The solar energy sector in India is experiencing immense momentum, driven by continued government support, the development of one-of-a-kind project models, and a rapid rate of adoption by both the government and companies. This month showed that solar power is not only shifting to the next stage of generation but also to the development of the community, modernization of infrastructure, and integration into storage. The country is progressing towards a more decentralized and resilient energy system, from its ability to power critical facilities such as water systems to having women-led clean energy programs and grid-connected solar projects. Moreover, the increased use of solar and battery technologies is an indicator that India is fully committed to utilizing clean power to achieve energy security, sustainability, and net-zero status.

October Sparks a Solar Surge: India Accelerates Toward a Cleaner Energy Future

  1. India inaugurated a 45 kW solar project for the Goa Water Supply

On October 4, 2025, Union Minister of State of the Ministry of Power and New and Renewable Energy commissioned the installation of a 45 kW On-Grid Solar Power System at a water pumping station in the district of North Goa under the CSR program of IREDA (Indian Renewable Energy Dev Agency Ltd). The project will be expected to produce about 60,000 units in a year, with an objective of full solarization of the pumping load. It tries to demonstrate the potential of using renewable energy to energize water distribution systems in society.

The effort demonstrates the intention of IREDA to go beyond funding clean energy to community building. Solarizing domestic services, including water pumping stations, can also serve as a model for the rest of the country to follow in achieving a sustainable energy transition.

  1. Tata Power-DDL Launched Solar Sakhi Abhiyan

On 9 October 2025, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited, as part of the Government of India's flagship programme, PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, introduced a landmark women's empowerment and clean energy programme, Solar Sakhi Abhiyan. This was launched at Pooth Khurd Village during the auspicious festival of Navratra, which is a festival that praises the power and spirit of women.

  1. Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd. Bagged an Order of 2.58 MW Solar Rooftop Project from South Eastern Railway

On October 13, 2025, Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd. stated that it won a 2.58 MW grid-connected rooftop solar project in the South Eastern Railway, Ranchi Division. The milestone indicates that Indian Railways continues to believe in the potential of Servotech's work and supports its contribution to India's shift towards clean energy.

As per this agreement, the entire implementation of the on-grid rooftop solar PV project will be executed by Servotech Renewable, which involves design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of solar panels of various capacities within various locations in the Ranchi Division. This project supports the greater sustainability vision of Indian Railways, aiming to achieve net-zero carbon emissions through the widespread adoption of renewable energy.

  1. Vikram Solar Won 148.9 MW Order from Sunsure Energy, Advancing India’s Clean Energy Push

On October 25, 2025, Vikram Solar, a major solar PV module manufacturer in India, announced a significant order of 148.9 MW of high-efficiency solar modules with Sunsure Energy, a leading renewable energy solutions provider to major businesses and utilities in India, as they transition to green power. These modules will be implemented in the states of Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, which are leading the charge in the clean energy agenda in India, with a rating of 595 Wp.

In this agreement, Vikram Solar will provide its advanced M10R N-Type TOPCon modules to Sunsure, with better efficiency and reliability, as well as high energy yield.

This is another major order from Sunsure Energy, in addition to 200 MW from AB Energia, 336 MW from L&T Construction, and 326 MW from Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited, among others, which were won this year.

  1. Hartek Commissioned 300 MW Solar Project in Rajasthan

On October 28, 2025, Hartek Power, a leading engineering and construction firm based in India and the country's third-largest solar EPC player, successfully commissioned a record-breaking 300 MWAC / 435 MWp DC solar PV power project in Rajasthan. This project is estimated to cost INR 474 crore (approximately USD 53.40 million) and was delivered by one of the most prestigious international renewable energy IPPs, which helped renew the reputation of Hartek as a trustworthy partner in the large-scale solar infrastructure in India.

Hartek has the wave of green energy revolution in India with more than 10 GW of connected solar to the grid, 400 EHV substations, 200 HV substations, and 200 MW of solar on the rooftop. The company continues to provide advanced infrastructure products that enable decarbonization, grid stability, and the development of smart cities.

  1. InSolare Energy Won 600 MW / 1,200 MWh BESS Project from SECI

On October 30, 2025, InSolare Energy Limited was awarded the 600MW/1200MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) contract by the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI). This project was awarded to the winning bidder one month after the tender was issued in September this year.

The size and scope of this initiative are also among the most significant standalone BESS awards SECI has ever invited, indicating the increasing prominence of InSolare in clean energy infrastructure. This historic victory marks a significant step towards InSolare's increasing presence in the clean-energy value chain, spanning from solar EPC to advanced energy storage, module production, green hydrogen, and green ammonia.

Powering Progress: India’s Solar Momentum Shapes a Sustainable Tomorrow

The Indian solar industry in October 2025 serves to underscore the country's energy transition. The increased convergence of government action, technology, and social inclusion is establishing new rules of clean power adoption. Additionally, solar projects launched by major companies reduce emissions and enhance grid reliability in regions, and are now becoming a reality. The combination of large-scale storage with localized solar systems proves to be a moderate solution that strikes a balance between size and sustainability. With such developments underway, India is gradually emerging as an industry leader in renewable energy, pushing it forward to a better place and a cleaner future for generations to come.
