Satellites in 5G: Transforming Connectivity from Space and Revolutionizing Global High-Speed Internet Access

Have you heard about 5G Network?

Yes, the new global wireless network AKA the 5th generation mobile network. Have you ever thought what makes us move to 5G? The slower speed data, external interruption, Low network capacity, non-availability and security reasons make us do so.

And so 5G wireless technology is expected to provide higher peak data rates of several Gbps and availability to untouched areas. Demand for 5G capacity is outstripping infrastructure improvements, especially in sparsely populated areas that are difficult to access.

But is it possible without artificial satellites? The answer is big NO because it is reachable across the world.

So, there is no best alternative for 5G network to go through the satellite mode.

There are several types of satellites used in Network and communications Industries such as:

Some of the major functionalities of satellites in building 5G network

  • Backhaul: – (moving data between the Radio Access Network (RAN) and the core network). The need for a greater variety of backhaul options will only increase as 5G rollout progresses. With 5G networks and the evolution of satellite systems, it is possible for satellites to supplement existing backbone connectivity mechanisms to meet growing demand.

  • Redundancy: – Satellite systems overlaying aspects of ground systems deemed strategically important or necessary for emergency operations in the event of a disaster can provide additional resilience to those systems through redundancy.

  • Remote connectivity: – Fully integrated satellite systems into 5G networks can help rural areas connect digitally to the modern world. 5G networks will bring with them an exponentially growing number of connected devices, including mobile phones, but also a vast number of IoT devices including billions of sensors.

There are several benefits associated to 5G Networks such as:

  • Flexibility: – Communication Satellite is the only technology that provide efficient network connectivity anywhere and anytime. Such as Airways, Waterways, Railways.

  • Safety: – Satellite can help provide effective solutions for reliable, fast, and secure network connections during critical communication times such as emergency response.

  • Universality: – Communication satellites can help in providing high – speed network connectivity across the world.

Where there are Pros, there are some cons too of the 5G network:

  • Dangerous to health :- Consumer have raised their concern about the health hazards as it uses higher energy millimeter wave radiation for which the expert might say not to worry but the radiation of 5G network is dangerous to health today or tomorrow.

  • Negative environmental impact:-  Although, number of benefits of 5G says that it could save energy but it is possible that it could lead to more energy emission  because the number of IOT devices will increase as 5G is all across the globe which will lead to global electricity consumption this or that way and data storage centers to consume huge amount of energy. For 5G people will move to new Cell Phones which means change network will lead to change product and both lead to more waste.

  • Security Challenges: – 5G might have big claims regarding security but somewhere the risk of security is not being reduced to zero. It exists somewhere around.

Conclusion

There is no second thought that 5G will bring transformational change in our life and ease the lifestyle of society. This sector is still in development stage and will remain there for few more years. The huge infrastructure change is on its way be ready for the exciting ride.
